Program Description

The Executive Committee, Sikkim State Civil Service Officers’ Association – SSCSOA has outlined some of the structured ideas for the programs—School Adoption for Development, Mission – Connect Earth for Revival of Barren Land, Sanitation & Environment in public areas -institutions- religious places, Tourism, Total Fertility Rate (TFR) awareness, Suicide Prevention, POCSO, Small Entrepreneurial Ventures for Youth, and Youth Counselling—tailored to maximize the involvement of Sikkim Civil Service Officers(SCS) and complement to Sikkim’s specific needs.

Each program includes objectives, strategies, and potential roles for the Officer Groups.

1. School Adoption for Development

Objective: Assist and enhance infrastructural needs and other basic needs in underserved, remote schools across Sikkim, fostering holistic development for students and the school.

Strategies: Each Rank-wise Group adopts 1–2 schools in rural or urban areas, focusing on infrastructure upgrades (e.g., smart classrooms, libraries, teachers’ common room, washrooms, drinking water etc), teacher and student welfare initiatives (nutrition, scholarships, annual awards), providing guidance on competitive examinations (All India Services, State Services) and all possible guidance in personality and career development.

Role of Officer Groups:

  1. The interested Rank Group to liaise with the Education Department and seek logistic guidance in regard to communication to the adopted school, School Management Committee etc.
  2. Coordinate with schools to identify needs and mobilize resources though Group Funding of the Rank Group – other rank groups, if need be and possible CSR, local philanthropy individuals – groups.
  3. Conduct field visits, monitor implementation, and engage with local communities.
  4. Set an ideal timeline for implementation and work out supervision plan, handing over functions.

Impact Assessment: Prepare an impact assessment plan. Prepare PPT, concept papers for sharing at government and programmes of SSCSOA for record, publication of the best practices.
